What can Crystal Color Powders be applied to?

The Crystal Color Powders by Elizabeth Parvu can be used on many applications.

To color Fondant, simply knead the crystal colors directly into it, let it set for about 2 hours to develop the color, all the while keeping the fondant in a tightly closed plastic bag.

If you’d like to paint on your cookies and confections, mix the Crystal Color Powder with either Lemon Extract or vodka and you are ready to paint! Another alternative would be to mix the Crystal Colors with some shortening.

To color Buttercream Icing, mix a quarter teaspoon of crystal color with one half of a teaspoon Clear Vanilla Extract  or Lemon Extract. Now it’s ready to be added into your prepared Buttercream Icing.

Crystal Colors work very well with candy melts as well as isomalt. (Especially the Crystallized Pearl Colors, which will lend a beautiful dispersion of color to your isomalt.)

Sanding Sugars or Jimmies may be colored with Crystal Colors. Add a small amount of color powder and shake in a jar. No need to wait for them to dry; it’s ready to use immediately.
